Governor Gavin Newsom signed executive order N-06-19 to address the housing affordability crisis that is facing the State of California. Governor Newsom ordered the Department of General Services (DGS) and the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD), to identify and prioritize excess state-owned property and aggressively pursue the goals of affordable, sustainable, innovative, feasible, and cost-effective housing projects.

Following executive order N-06-19, the California Department of General Services (DGS) and the Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) released a request for development proposals for the vacant site at 440 Arden Way, Sacramento, CA. Proposals were encouraged to prioritize affordability, innovative housing and construction types, efficiency, accessibility, sustainability, low development costs, community outreach, partnership and collaboration.

BRIDGE Housing Corporation (BRIDGE) was selected to develop 440 Arden Way by the Department of Government Services (DGS) and the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD).
Fall 2021 - Spring 2022
BRIDGE Housing worked with City of Sacramento as well as local civic groups to host community outreach and engagement events.
Spring 2022 - Spring 2024
Following community outreach and engagement, BRIDGE will worked with LPAS Architecture to develop project designs and submit funding applications.
